"No one deserves that," Kaius hummed, voice dipping into a low, sleepy purr as he draped his tail over Gabriel and wrapped his wings around the grim, keeping him close and blocking everything else out.

Surrounded by warmth and comforting darkness, Gabriel fell asleep quickly; the worry lines he had even in death fading as his whole body relaxed. He slept deeper than he had in many years, the sensation of another person sleeping next to him deeply soothing.
When he woke the next morning, he couldn't help but smile and snuggle against Kaius, giddy and feeling more alive than the day before.

Kaius crooned softly, making little deep noises that no other animals could replicate. "Good morning, Gabriel," he said softly, pulling himself away from the grim to stand and stretch, wings flapping a few times as he woke himself up fully.

"Good morning, Kaius," Gabriel smiled and watched Kaius stretch for a moment before getting up himself. "We're going to swim today, right? I don't remember if I can get wet,"

"Its a good time to find out. If anything, at least you can't drown, and the ocean life in this area is beautiful. Have you ever seen a shark before?" Kaius asked curiously. They were some of his favorite animals, swimming up to him curiously and enjoying the pets he gave them. Humans seemed to be terrified of them, however.

"I never learned to swim, so I've never been around the water much. Now I guess I don't have to worry." Gabriel smiled at the thought that he had nothing to fear, kind of excited at the thought of experiencing the world with Kaius.

"Well, then. Let's not dawdle. Shall we?" Kaius asked, placing a claw on Gabriel's back as he guided him through the cave and out into the sunlight. He spread his wings, enjoying the warmth on them, wasting no time in going towards the water and diving in, smooth and graceful

Gabriel just watched for a moment, stepping close to the water but looking reluctant to dive in. Would he even feel wet, or would the water go through him? "Kaius? I-I'm nervous.."

Kaius swam over to Gabriel and held out his hands with a smile. "Come on, little one. It's alright," he crooned. "I've got you." Kaius didn't know what Gabriel was afraid of, but he would try to ease his nerves if he could.

Kaius' crooning calmed Gabriel enough to take his hand; he took a deep breath, squeezed the fingers in his own, and then jumped into the water before he could worry himself out of doing it.
