Re: Let Me Be Your Killer King

"I'll have you know not all unseely are violent!! I've never hurt anyone. Unless you count hunting for food. But even mortals do that!" Aryll huffed indignantly, yanking off his worn tunic. Well, at least he'd get new clothes out of this. "I've never even been to the Unseely Court."

"Mmm... Shame. I was hoping you could tell me about them," Tarin hummed. "I've been trying to get information on them for years. I don't remember the last time they allowed any seely to visit."

Jorel handed Aryll a simple brown tunic and matching pants, the fabric dull and itchy, but warm at the very least. "Which reminds me, why did you think it was a good idea to steal from the seely castle?" Tarin continued. "Are you an idiot?"

Aryll dressed quickly, throwing his old clothes away. When Tarin began to question him, he immediately opened his mouth to argue, but clicked it back shut when the realization that he had no defense hit.

"..I was hungry..." The phouka flushed darkly as he muttered an answer, folding his arms across his chest. "I was honestly trying to find my court, but I don't leave my forest very often anymore and got lost."

Tarin snorted in amusement. "I doubt you'll make that mistake twice. Though, I'm sure you can be of use. How good are you at spying?" The prince grinned. "Nobody really pays attention to the servants."

"I dunno, never had to spy before. I'm good at sneaking, though! I've set thousands of traps, right under people's noses," Aryll puffed his chest out in pride, though he wondered just why the prince was asking him. "Why? It's not like you have to worry about your position or anything."

"Someone must take the throne when the king dies. Better for it to be Tarin, but that requires a little...thinning the herd." Cara piped up, smirking darkly. Each brother cut down and pushed out of the way was another step closer to freedom.

"My brothers are incompetent. So are my parents," Tarin explained. "As well as cruel. They are ignoring their people and kingdom for entertainment and power. I'm going to see to it that this kingdom will end up with a fair and just ruler, even if that means high treason."

"And if ya don't keep your mouth closed, we'll cut yer tongue out," Jorel threatened. It wouldn't be the first time he'd maimed a servant because they thought they could see out their prince.

"Though if you want your freedom, the best path to that is sticking with me and my people," Tarin added.

"I'll stick with you, I'm almost positive I'd be dead if you hadn't come." Aryll decided without much need for thought, though he still stood there feeling out of place. "What do I do now? I lived in a cave, I don't know anything about kings or servants or what they do,"
